Bio Diverse Green Roofs
Sedum Supply Ltd supplied and installed the bio diverse green roof for Fordhall Organic Farm in Market Drayton, Shropshire. A single ply waterproofing system was used on an existing roof deck and a bio diverse planted roof system installed to create a beautiful substainable roof system.
The Wildflower green roof installation was part of a full renovation and extension to the old dairy. Which would provide new offices, a classroom, tearoom, butchery and farm shop. The green roof was planted with carefully selected wildflowers and grasses native to the local area as requested by the client.
The client, Shingler Homes, said: “Sedum Supply have been putting the gravel base onto our green roof. This substrate will hold a beautiful bio diverse roof, which all the local wildlife will be able to take advantage of throughout the year.”
The new bio diverse green roof will provide many benefits to both, Fordhall Organic Farm and the environment. Wildlife will have a new habitat, stormwater runoff will be reduced as well as noise, pollution and energy costs. The beautiful wildflower roof can be appreicated 6 days of the week as they are open all year round to the public.
The organic farm also offers free farm trails, organic café, group tours, glamping in our yurts, educational visits, events, courses, weddings, meeting room space, care farming and volunteering opportunities.
